My Oracle ACE Journey: From Practical Sharing to Oracle ACE Pro

Some journeys do not begin with a plan. They begin with curiosity, consistency, and a simple intention to share what we learn.

My Oracle ACE journey is one such journey.

When I look back today, it feels special not only because of the recognition, but because of the years of learning, experimenting, writing, and sharing that shaped this path. This is now my 5th year as part of the Oracle ACE community, and this time, the feeling is even more special as I step forward as an Oracle ACE Pro.

It is a proud moment, but more than that, it is a reminder of the responsibility to keep learning, keep contributing, and keep giving back to the community.

Where it started

I started sharing technical content back in 2014.

At that time, my focus was very simple. I used to share practical, hands-on learnings around Oracle Core Administration work. Most of it came from real DBA activities, production experience, troubleshooting, configuration, maintenance, and daily operational learning.

It was not about writing polished articles or building a personal brand. It was simply about sharing what I was learning and what I felt could help someone else.

As DBAs, many of us learn through real issues. A command that worked in one scenario, an error that took hours to understand, a backup behavior that was not obvious, a small configuration that made a big difference — these things become valuable only when they are documented and shared.

That was the beginning for me.

Growing through practical learning

The early years were mostly about Oracle database administration and real-world DBA work.

I was sharing whatever I could from my hands-on experience  -  Oracle installation, database creation, backup and recovery, Data Guard, patching, troubleshooting, performance checks, and other core administration activities.

Many times, the content came from questions I had faced myself.

Why did this error occur? What should be checked first? What is the safer approach in production? How can this be explained in a simple way?

That practical approach slowly became my style of sharing. I always wanted my content to be useful for someone working on actual systems, not just someone reading theory.

The pandemic phase and deeper sharing

During the 2020 pandemic period, like many others, I got more time to reflect, learn, and explore. That phase gave me a strong boost to share more detailed technical content.

I started going deeper into Oracle topics and also began exploring other database technologies like PostgreSQL and MySQL.

That period changed my approach towards knowledge sharing. Earlier, I was mostly sharing practical notes and hands-on content. But from 2020 onward, I started putting more effort into explaining the “why” behind the technical steps.

Why does this issue happen? What is the production impact? What should a DBA check before taking action? What are the risks? How can the same concept be understood by someone who is still learning?

That shift helped me grow not only as a content creator, but also as a DBA.

The suggestion that changed the direction

In 2021, my best friend Jiten suggested that I should attempt and nominate myself for the Oracle ACE Program.

Honestly, sometimes we keep doing things consistently but do not realize the value of our own contribution. It often takes someone else to remind us.

Jiten's suggestion gave me that push.

I went ahead, submitted my nomination, and that became an important milestone in my journey.

Receiving the Oracle ACE recognition was a very special moment. It felt like years of learning, sharing, and community contribution were a1cknowledged by the wider Oracle ecosystem.

Being part of the Oracle ACE community

Being an Oracle ACE is not just about having a title.

For me, it has always been about responsibility.

Responsibility to share meaningful content.

Responsibility to stay technically honest.

Responsibility to support the community.

Responsibility to keep learning and not become comfortable with what we already know.

Over the years, the Oracle ACE community has given me opportunities to connect with many amazing professionals, learn from experts, and contribute in my own way.

Every blogpost, every discussion, every technical note, and every shared experience became part of this journey.

5th year as Oracle ACE and now Oracle ACE Pro

This year marks my 5th year of being an Oracle ACE, and I am truly proud and grateful to share that I am now an Oracle ACE Pro.

This recognition means a lot to me.

It is not just a promotion in the program. It feels like a reflection of consistency, contribution, and commitment over the years.

From starting with practical Oracle Core Administration notes in 2014, to exploring deeper technical areas during 2020, to becoming part of the Oracle ACE community in 2021, and now reaching Oracle ACE Pro., the journey has been very meaningful.

There is a sense of pride, but also a deep sense of gratitude.

Gratitude towards the Oracle community. Gratitude towards people who read, supported, corrected, and encouraged me.

What this journey taught me

This journey taught me that consistency matters.

You do not need to know everything before you start sharing. You do not need to wait for the perfect moment.  Sometimes, even a small practical note can help someone who is stuck in a real production issue.

As technical professionals, we often underestimate the value of our daily learning. But what is routine for us may be new and useful for someone else.

That is why I believe knowledge sharing should be part of every engineer's journey.

It helps others, but it also helps us become better at what we do.

A note of thanks

I would like to sincerely thank the Oracle community, my friends, colleagues, readers, mentors, and everyone who supported, encouraged, corrected, and motivated me throughout this journey.

A special thanks to my best friend Jiten, whose suggestion in 2021 gave me the push to take the Oracle ACE nomination seriously.

I would also like to sincerely thank Oana Banu and the entire Oracle ACE Team for their continuous efforts in building, supporting, and enhancing the Oracle ACE Program.

The initiatives, programs, opportunities, and community-focused activities introduced by the ACE Team have created a strong platform for Oracle professionals across the world to learn, contribute, connect, and grow together.

Their consistent work behind the scenes has played an important role in making the Oracle ACE community more active, inclusive, and meaningful for all of us.

Final thoughts

My Oracle ACE journey started with simple, practical sharing in 2014. It grew stronger during 2020 when I started exploring and writing more deeply.

And today, in my 5th year as an Oracle ACE, becoming an Oracle ACE Pro feels like a proud and emotional milestone.

The journey does not stop here.

There is still a lot to learn, a lot to explore, and a lot to contribute.

I will continue sharing practical knowledge, real-world DBA experience, and technical learnings with the same intention with which I started.,  to help, to learn, and to give back to the community.

Because knowledge becomes more meaningful when it is shared.
